Interview - FROZEN SOUL

For an introduction to Frozen Soul, see here.

This interview is with guitarist Michael Munday.

1. Encased In Ice is an exceptional demo, how has the response been so far?

The response has been incredible. We didn’t think that Encased In Ice would get this much attention and praise, it’s very humbling to see.

2. How did the relationship with Maggot Stomp come about?

I was already a fan of what Maggot Stomp was releasing, and I had interacted a bit on their social media. Shortly after we recorded the demo I just said “f*ck it” and DM’d a dropbox link to our songs, and Maggot Stomp loved it. We’ve had a great relationship since then.

3. Do you have a new release/new releases in the pipeline? What can we expect from the new material, as compared with the EP or in general?

We’ll be releasing a full length LP this year. The new songs we have are even groovier and heavier than what we’ve already released. Expect to hear some punishing death metal.

4. It’s a clichéd question, but who are your main influences (if indeed you feel you have influences)?

Our influences are all over the place. The most obvious being Bolt Thrower. Obituary, Mortician and Sentenced are some other bands that heavily influence all of us. I could list a ton more but I’d take up too much space.

5. Do you have a lot of touring plans for 2020?

Yes. As of now, we have (mostly) a full US tour this June with some killer bands. That should be announced within the next couple months. We also just confirmed something for the winter, but can’t give too much information out about that one yet. It’s a good one though.

6. Is there any chance you'll be playing in the UK at any point?

At some point, yes. It’s a dream for all of us to play across the pond. As for when, we’re not sure yet. We’ll have to see how it lines up with releasing the album and the other tours we already have planned at the moment.

7. Do you have any other future plans that you can share with us?

Expect to hear more music and see us on the road more. We’re not slowing down at all.
