Essential Bands - NAPALM DEATH


Birmingham's Napalm Death arguably founded the grindcore scene in the 1980s.

They were certainly hugely influential, with their revolutionary 1987 full-length Scum in particular.

By the early 1990s their sound had changed, as they deviated from their punk roots and incorporated more death metal stylings.

Both of those periods deserve separate posts, as does their post-millennial period - with a 38 year history full of development, one post will simply not suffice.

This entry focuses on their underappreciated mid-'90s era, when they had become more of a death metal band than anything else.

Anyone who isn't familiar with that era can find a few choice tracks from a few choice albums below.
