Slayer - Hell Awaits [Essential Thrash Albums]

Other Slayer albums have been featured here and here.

Their sophomore effort should need no introduction, but for anyone that is new to extreme metal...

It was released on Metal Blade/Combat/Roadrunner in 1985. Reign In Blood (the album which followed) is widely considered to be the band's finest hour, but its predecessor is also a very important offering.

This is where they really defined their sound - a sound which continues to stand apart from all others to this day.

If you don't own it (along with at least Reign In Blood, South Of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss) then you should do something about that immediately.

You can hear Hell Awaits below, and pick up a copy here.
